INGREDIENTS

  • 1 small green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari (for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the Cabbage and Pea Stir-Fry:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

  2. Add the thinly sliced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it becomes translucent.

  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. Add the thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until it starts to wilt and become tender.

Prepare the Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce or tamari, rice vinegar, maple syrup or agave nectar, and red pepper flakes.

Combine the Sauce with the Stir-Fry:

  1. Pour the prepared sauce over the cabbage and pea mixture in the skillet.

  2. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to coat the vegetables.

  3. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust the sauce and spice level as needed.
