Roasted Makhana Fox Nuts
Roasted Makhana, also known as fox nuts or lotus seeds, are a popular and nutritious snack in Indian cuisine. Makhana is first roasted to enhance its natural crunchiness and then flavored with spices to create a delicious and guilt-free snack option. It’s a low-calorie and high-fiber snack that can be enjoyed anytime, whether you’re looking for a satisfying midday snack or a light treat.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup makhana (fox nuts)
- 1 tablespoon oil (such as ghee, coconut oil, or olive oil)
- Salt to taste
- Optional: Spices such as black pepper, cumin powder, chaat masala, or any preferred seasoning
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat a pan or skillet over medium heat.
Add the makhana (fox nuts) to the dry pan and roast them for about 5 minutes, stirring continuously. Roasting helps to remove any moisture and make them crispy.
Once the makhana is lightly roasted and crispy, remove it from the pan and set it aside.
In the same pan, add the oil of your choice.
Return the roasted makhana to the pan and toss it in the oil to coat.
Sprinkle salt and any desired spices or seasonings over the makhana. Toss well to evenly coat the makhana with the seasoning.
Continue to roast the makhana for another 2-3 minutes, or until they are crunchy and golden brown.
Remove the roasted makhana from the pan and let it cool before serving.
Serve:
Serve the Roasted Makhana as a healthy and crunchy snack.
Enjoy them on their own or pair them with a cup of tea or coffee.
TIPS
Customize the seasoning to your preference by adding different spices, such as turmeric, chili powder, or dried herbs.
You can use flavored oils like garlic-infused olive oil for added flavor.
