5/5

Paneer paratha is a popular Indian stuffed flatbread made with whole wheat flour and grated paneer. It is a delicious and nutritious option for a balanced meal. Paneer, rich in protein and calcium, adds a creamy and flavorful touch to the paratha.

INGREDIENTS

For the Paratha:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup grated paneer (Indian cottage cheese)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as needed for kneading the dough
  • Ghee or cooking oil for cooking the parathas

For the Curd:

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • Chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

For the Paratha:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, grated paneer, chopped onions, green chilies, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder (if using), and salt.
  2. Gradually add water and knead to form a soft and smooth dough. The paneer will release moisture, so adjust the water accordingly.
  3. Divide the dough into small equal-sized portions and shape them into balls.
  4. Take one dough ball and dust it with flour. Roll it out into a small disc using a rolling pin.
  5. Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa.
  6. Cook the paratha on one side until small bubbles start to appear. Flip it over and cook the other side.
  7. Apply some ghee or cooking oil on both sides and cook until the paratha is golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls to make more parathas.

For the Curd:

  1. In a bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth.
  2. Add salt and roasted cumin powder. Mix well.
  3. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.

TIPS

  1. You can add other finely chopped vegetables like capsicum, carrots, or spinach to the paratha dough for added nutrition and taste.
  2. Adjust the spiciness by adding or reducing the amount of green chilies and red chili powder according to your preference.
  3. You can also add a pinch of garam masala powder or chaat masala for an extra flavor boost.
  4. Serve the paneer paratha with a dollop of ghee on top for a richer taste.
  5. If you want a softer paratha, you can brush it with ghee or cooking oil after it is cooked.
  6. Enjoy the paratha with pickles or chutneys of your choice for added tanginess.
