Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs

5/5

Oven-baked BBQ ribs are a delicious and easy alternative to traditional grilled ribs. This recipe results in tender and flavorful ribs that are coated in a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. The ribs are slow-cooked in the oven until they are juicy and fall-off-the-bone tender. It’s a perfect dish for barbecue lovers who want to enjoy ribs all year round, regardless of the weather.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4-5 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your choice of flavor)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 275°F (135°C).

  2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a dry rub.

  3. Place the ribs on a baking sheet or roasting pan, meat side up. Sprinkle the dry rub evenly over both sides of the ribs, pressing it into the meat to adhere.

  4. Cover the baking sheet or roasting pan tightly with aluminum foil, making sure to seal it completely. This will help create a steamy environment for the ribs to cook in.

  5. Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bones.

  6. Remove the foil and brush the barbecue sauce evenly over the ribs, covering both sides.

  7. Increase the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) and return the ribs to the oven, uncovered. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the barbecue sauce has caramelized and developed a slightly sticky glaze.

  8. Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

  9. Cut the racks into individual ribs and serve hot. You can serve them as they are or with additional barbecue sauce on the side.

TIPS

  1. For extra flavor, marinate the ribs in the dry rub overnight in the refrigerator before baking.
  2. You can adjust the amount of barbecue sauce according to your preference. Add more if you like saucier ribs or less if you prefer a lighter coating.
  3. If you prefer a smoky flavor, you can add a teaspoon of liquid smoke to the dry rub.
  4. Serve the ribs with your favorite side dishes, such as coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans.
