MUTTON SEEKH KABAB RECIPE
Mutton Seekh Kebabs are succulent and flavorful kebabs made from minced mutton and a blend of aromatic spices. These kebabs are traditionally grilled or barbecued, giving them a smoky and charred flavor. They are a popular appetizer or snack in Indian cuisine and can be enjoyed as part of an Indian weight loss diet.
INGREDIENTS
- 500 grams minced mutton
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tablespoon chopped mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil (for grilling)
- Lemon wedges for serving
INSTRUCTIONS
In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced mutton, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, coriander leaves, mint leaves, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a cylindrical kebab on a skewer. Repeat the process with the remaining mixture.
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
Brush the kebabs with a little oil on all sides.
Place the kebabs on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
Once cooked, remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
Serve the Mutton Seekh Kebabs hot with lemon wedges and a side of mint chutney or yogurt dip.
TIPS
If you don’t have access to a grill, you can also cook the kebabs in the oven. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and place the kebabs on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
Soak the wooden skewers in water for about 30 minutes before using them. This helps prevent them from burning on the grill.
You can add a tablespoon of besan (gram flour) to the kebab mixture to bind it together if needed.
Serve the Mutton Seekh Kebabs with a side of sliced onions and mint chutney for an authentic Indian experience.
To make the kebabs healthier, you can grill them on a wire rack or use a non-stick grill pan with minimal oil.
