Matcha Green Tea

5/5

Matcha Green Tea is made from specially grown and processed green tea leaves. The leaves are carefully ground into a fine powder, which is then whisked into hot water to create a frothy and flavorful beverage. It has a distinct vegetal taste with a slightly bitter and earthy undertone.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
  • 1 cup hot water (175°F or 80°C)
  • Optional: sweetener of your choice (honey, stevia, etc.)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Sift the matcha green tea powder into a bowl to remove any lumps.
  2. Heat water to about 175°F (80°C), just below boiling.
  3. Pour a small amount of hot water (about 2 ounces) into the bowl with the matcha powder.
  4. Use a bamboo whisk or small whisk to whisk the matcha vigorously in a “W” or “M” motion until it forms a smooth, frothy consistency.
  5. Gradually add the remaining hot water (about 6 ounces), continuing to whisk until well combined.
  6. If desired, add a sweetener of your choice and stir until dissolved.
  7. Pour the matcha green tea into a cup and enjoy immediately.

TIPS

  1. Choose high-quality ceremonial grade matcha powder for the best flavor and health benefits.
  2. Use a bamboo whisk or a small whisk specifically designed for matcha to achieve a smooth and frothy texture.
  3. Adjust the amount of matcha powder and water based on your preference for a stronger or milder taste.
  4. Matcha green tea can be enjoyed on its own or used as an ingredient in various recipes, such as matcha lattes, smoothies, and baked goods.
  5. To enhance the flavor and benefits of matcha, you can add a touch of natural sweetener like honey or stevia, although traditionally matcha is consumed without any sweeteners.
  6. Store matcha powder in an airtight container away from light and heat to preserve its freshness and potency.
