These pinwheels are perfect for parties, gatherings, or even as a quick and tasty snack for any time of the day. The combination of ham and cheese wrapped in a buttery pastry creates a delightful bite-sized treat that everyone will love.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 6-8 slices of ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Fresh herbs or spices for garnish (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the puff pastry package.

  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to a rectangular shape.

  3. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the puff pastry sheet.

  4. Layer the ham slices evenly over the mustard-coated pastry sheet.

  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the ham slices, covering the entire surface.

  6. Starting from one end, tightly roll the puff pastry sheet, forming a log.

  7. Using a sharp knife, cut the log into slices, about 1/2 to 1 inch thick. These will be your pinwheels.

  8. Place the pinwheels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a little space between each.

  9. Brush the tops of the pinwheels with melted butter for a golden and shiny finish.

  10. Bake the pinwheels in the preheated oven for the time specified on the puff pastry package, or until they are puffed up and golden brown.

  11. Remove the pinwheels from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.

  12. Garnish with fresh herbs or spices, if desired.

  13. Serve the Ham and Cheese Pinwheels warm as an appetizer or snack. They can be enjoyed immediately or at room temperature.

TIPS

  1. Experiment with different types of ham, such as smoked ham, honey ham, or even turkey ham, for variety in flavors.
  2. Feel free to use your favorite cheese or a combination of cheeses that melt well, such as cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella.
  3. You can add extra flavor to the pinwheels by including other ingredients like sliced tomatoes, caramelized onions, or spinach leaves.
  4. If you want to make the pinwheels ahead of time, you can prepare them up to the baking stage and refrigerate them until ready to bake. Simply bake them when you’re ready to serve.
  5. Serve the Ham and Cheese Pinwheels as an appetizer at parties, potlucks, or family gatherings. They also make a great addition to brunch menus.
