Grilled Turkey Burger with Lettuce Wrap

5/5

Grilled Turkey Burger with Lettuce Wrap offers a healthier twist on the classic burger experience by substituting the traditional bun with crisp lettuce leaves. The turkey burger patties, seasoned with a mix of herbs and spices, provide a flavorful and protein-packed foundation. The lettuce wrap not only reduces the carbohydrate content but also adds a satisfying crunch and freshness.

INGREDIENTS

For Turkey Burger Patties:

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Lettuce Wrap Assembly:

  • Large lettuce leaves (such as iceberg or butter lettuce)
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced red onion
  • Sliced avocado
  • Mustard, ketchup, or preferred condiments

INSTRUCTIONS

Turkey Burger Patties:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine lean ground turkey, finely chopped onion, chopped parsley, minced garlic, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  2. Gently mix the ingredients together until well combined, taking care not to overwork the mixture.

  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.

  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.

  5. Grill the turkey burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and no longer pink in the center. Cooking time may vary based on the thickness of the patties.

Lettuce Wrap Assembly:

  1. Wash and dry large lettuce leaves. These will serve as your “buns.”

  2. Place a grilled turkey burger patty on a lettuce leaf.

  3. Top the patty with sliced tomato, sliced red onion, and sliced avocado.

  4. Add your preferred condiments, such as mustard or ketchup.

  5. Gently fold the lettuce leaf around the burger and toppings to create a lettuce wrap.

TIPS

  • Customize the turkey burger patties by adding your favorite herbs, spices, or grated vegetables.

  • Use other lettuce varieties or even cabbage leaves for the wraps.

  • Serve the turkey burger wraps with a side salad, sweet potato fries, or a crunchy slaw.
