CHICKEN PAKORAS RECIPE

5/5

Chicken Pakoras are a popular Indian snack made with marinated chicken pieces coated in a spiced gram flour batter and deep-fried until crispy. They are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, packed with flavors and spices. Chicken Pakoras are enjoyed as a delicious appetizer or evening snack.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, rice flour, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.

  2. Gradually add water to the mixture while whisking, until you achieve a smooth batter consistency.

  3. Add the chicken pieces to the batter and mix well, ensuring each piece is coated evenly. Allow it to marinate for 15-20 minutes.

  4. Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat for deep frying.

  5. Carefully drop the marinated chicken pieces into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

  6. Repeat the process until all the chicken pieces are fried.

  7. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

  8. Serve the Chicken Pakoras hot with mint chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.

TIPS

  1. You can adjust the spice levels by increasing or decreasing the amount of red chili powder according to your taste preferences.

  2. Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying the chicken pakoras. Test it by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil; if it sizzles and rises to the top immediately, the oil is ready.

  3. To achieve extra crunchiness, you can add a tablespoon of hot oil to the batter before marinating the chicken.

  4. Serve the Chicken Pakoras immediately to enjoy them at their best texture and flavor.

  5. You can customize the spices by adding additional herbs or spices like garam masala, chaat masala, or ajwain (carom seeds) for more flavor variations.

  6. If you prefer a healthier option, you can also bake the chicken pakoras in the oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 15-20 minutes until they are crispy and cooked through.
