CHICKEN KEBABS RECIPE
Chicken Kebabs are a popular Indian appetizer made with marinated chicken pieces cooked on a grill or in the oven. They are flavorful, juicy, and perfect for a healthy and delicious meal. These kebabs are low in calories and high in protein, making them suitable for weight loss and a balanced diet.
INGREDIENTS
- 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Skewers for grilling
INSTRUCTIONS
In a mixing bowl, add yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to form a marinade.
Add the chopped onions and chicken pieces to the marinade. Coat the chicken pieces evenly with the marinade. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or you can refrigerate it overnight for better flavors.
Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 15-20 minutes to prevent them from burning.
Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers.
Brush the grill or baking tray with oil to prevent sticking. Place the chicken skewers on the grill or baking tray.
Grill or bake the chicken kebabs for about 10-12 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are cooked through and have a charred exterior.
Remove the chicken kebabs from the grill or oven and let them rest for a few minutes.
Serve the Chicken Kebabs hot with mint chutney or yogurt dip, and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
TIPS
- For added flavor, you can add a pinch of kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) or chaat masala to the marinade.
- If you prefer a spicier taste, increase the amount of red chili powder or add some finely chopped green chilies to the marinade.
- To achieve a smoky flavor, you can cook the chicken kebabs on a charcoal grill.
- If using wooden skewers, make sure to soak them in water beforehand to prevent burning.
- Serve the Chicken Kebabs as an appetizer with mint chutney or yogurt dip, or as a main course with rice or Indian bread.
- You can also include sliced onions, lemon wedges, and fresh salad on the side for a complete meal.
- Experiment with different marinades by adding herbs like mint or cilantro, or spices like paprika or cardamom for unique flavors.
- Make sure the chicken is cooked through but not overcooked to maintain its juiciness.
- If you don’t have access to a grill or oven, you can cook the chicken kebabs on a stovetop grill pan or in a skillet with some oil.
- Enjoy the Chicken Kebabs as a healthy and flavorful option for your weight loss journey while still satisfying your taste buds.
