5/5

BBQ chicken drumsticks are a classic and delicious dish perfect for any gathering or barbecue. They are coated in a flavorful marinade and grilled or baked until juicy and tender. These drumsticks are sure to be a crowd-pleaser and are easy to prepare.

INGREDIENTS

  • 6-8 chicken drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust according to spice preference)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh chopped parsley or green onions (optional, for garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create the marinade.

  2. Add the chicken drumsticks to the marinade and coat them evenly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or ideally overnight. Marinating overnight will enhance the flavors.

  3. Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C).

  4. If using a grill: Grease the grill grates or use aluminum foil to prevent sticking. Place the marinated chicken drumsticks on the grill and cook for about 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.

  5. If using an oven: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the marinated chicken drumsticks on the wire rack and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy.

  6. Once the BBQ chicken drumsticks are cooked, remove them from the grill or oven.

  7. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired.

  8. Serve the BBQ chicken drumsticks hot with your favorite side dishes like coleslaw, potato salad, or corn on the cob.

TIPS

  1. Make sure to coat the drumsticks well in the marinade for maximum flavor. You can also reserve some marinade for basting during grilling.
  2. If using wooden skewers for grilling, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before threading the chicken drumsticks to prevent burning.
  3. Adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  4. You can use boneless chicken thighs or wings instead of drumsticks if preferred.
  5. If you prefer a sweeter BBQ flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of honey or brown sugar to the marinade.
