Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips
Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips are a delightful and guilt-free alternative to store-bought chips. The natural sweetness of the apples is enhanced by the warming flavor of cinnamon, creating a snack that’s not only delicious but also rich in fiber and nutrients.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 large apples (any variety)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or use a non-stick baking mat.
Wash and dry the apples. Using a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer, thinly slice the apples into even rounds, about 1/8 inch thick. Remove the seeds and core from the slices.
In a bowl, combine the ground cinnamon and granulated sugar (if using). Mix well to evenly distribute the cinnamon.
Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, making sure they do not overlap.
Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the apple slices, lightly coating each slice.
Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the apple slices are crisp and slightly golden. The exact baking time may vary depending on the thickness of the slices and your oven, so keep a close eye on them to prevent over-browning.
About halfway through the baking time, flip the apple slices to ensure even cooking.
Once the apple chips are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
