INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or your choice)
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup fresh spinach leaves
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
- 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon almond butter (or any nut butter)
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- Ice cubes (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Wash the berries and spinach thoroughly.
- Peel the ripe banana and break it into chunks.
- In a blender, combine the mixed berries, banana chunks, fresh spinach, chia seeds, almond butter, and almond milk.
- Blend on high speed until all the ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth.
- If the smoothie is too thick, you can add water gradually until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste the smoothie and if desired, add a teaspoon of maple syrup for a touch of sweetness. Blend again to combine.
- If you prefer a colder smoothie, add a few ice cubes and blend until they’re crushed and incorporated.
- Once the smoothie is smooth and well-mixed, pour it into glasses and serve immediately.
TIPS
- You can use any combination of mixed berries that you like.
- If you’re using frozen berries, you might not need as much ice, if any.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup, or omit it altogether if the fruits are sweet enough.
- Feel free to substitute almond milk with any other plant-based milk of your choice.
- You can add protein powder, flax seeds, or other superfoods to boost the nutritional value.
