INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound beef (such as flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil, honey or brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well to create the marinade.
Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour in the refrigerator.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion, bell pepper, and carrot. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are slightly softened.
Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add the marinated beef to the other side. Cook the beef for 2-3 minutes, or until it is browned and cooked through.
Mix the beef and vegetables together in the skillet, ensuring everything is well combined.
Remove the skillet from the heat and garnish the stir-fry with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
Serve the Spicy Korean Beef Stir-Fry hot with steamed rice or noodles.
TIPS
- Adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less gochujang according to your taste preferences.
- For added crunch and freshness, you can toss in some bean sprouts or snow peas along with the other vegetables.
- Feel free to customize the stir-fry with additional vegetables of your choice, such as mushrooms, zucchini, or broccoli.
- Serve the stir-fry with a side of kimchi or pickled vegetables for an authentic Korean dining experience.
- If you prefer a milder version, you can reduce the amount of gochujang or replace it with a milder chili paste.
