BAKED PLANTAIN CHIPS RECIPE

5/5

Baked Plantain Chips are a healthier alternative to fried snacks, making them a suitable choice for Indian weight loss diets. Plantains are rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and baking them instead of frying helps reduce the calorie content. These chips can be enjoyed as a guilt-free snack and provide a satisfying crunch while supporting your weight loss goals.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ripe plantains
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional seasonings: chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the plantains and slice them thinly using a knife or a mandoline slicer.
  3. In a bowl, toss the plantain slices with olive oil, paprika, salt, black pepper, and any other seasonings you prefer.
  4. Arrange the plantain slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely before serving.

TIPS

  1. Choose ripe plantains for a sweeter flavor, as they will become slightly caramelized when baked.
  2. Slice the plantains uniformly to ensure even cooking.
  3. Adjust the seasonings to your taste preferences. You can make them spicy by adding chili powder or add other herbs and spices for different flavor profiles.
  4. Keep an eye on the chips towards the end of the baking time to prevent them from burning.
  5. Store the baked plantain chips in an airtight container to maintain their crispness.
