Kale leaves are seasoned with a combination of olive oil, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and salt, then roasted until crispy. The result is a satisfyingly crunchy snack that is packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber. It’s a great way to enjoy the nutritional benefits of kale in a delicious way.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 bunch of kale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash the kale leaves thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  3. Remove the tough stems from the kale leaves and tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and salt. Mix well to create a marinade.
  5. Add the torn kale leaves to the bowl and toss them gently to coat them evenly with the marinade.
  6. Place the kale leaves in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Roast the kale in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and lightly browned. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
  8. Remove the kale chips from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

TIPS

  1. Make sure the kale leaves are completely dry before tossing them in the marinade. Excess moisture can prevent the chips from becoming crispy.
  2. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. You can add spices like chili powder, garlic powder, or paprika for additional flavor.
  3. Keep an eye on the kale chips while roasting, as they can quickly go from crispy to burnt. Remove them from the oven as soon as they turn crispy and lightly browned.
  4. Store any leftover kale chips in an airtight container to maintain their crispiness. They are best consumed within a day or two.
  5. Serve the roasted kale chips as a standalone snack or as a side dish with dips like hummus or yogurt-based sauces
